The Department of Atmospheric Environment (ATMI) at Denmark's National Environmental Research Institute (NERI) is lead partner in a Pilot Project to assess possibilities for establishing a "center of excellence" on environmental monitoring technology in Roskilde, Denmark. The three partners in this effort are NERI, Risoe National Laboratory, and Roskilde University.

The pilot project is known locally as "The Roskilde Project".

As part of the project several international workshops are held in Roskilde in the spring of 1996.
