COST

COST is a common European framework for cooperation in research. Several COST actions, past and present, deal with air pollution. The following are considered most important in respect to air pollution.

On-going COST actions

COST action 633

"Particulate Matter: Properties Related to Health Effects".

In this COST action, scientists from various fields (atmospheric particles, epidemiology, toxicology and modelling) are brought together in an expert group. NERI hosts the web site of the action

COST action 732

"Quality Assurance and Improvement of Micro-Scale Meteorological Models". The models in question are models applied for predicting flow and transport processes in urban or industrial environments - typically CFD models. Within the framework of COST 732, an exercise has been conducted where several groups have used the MUST data set for model validation. NERI hosts a set of web pages with results and tools related to the exercise .

Past COST actions

COST 710

"Harmonisation within the pre-processing of meteorological data for dispersion models". NERI hosts the web site of this action, which ended in 1998. A final report is available.

COST 715

"Urban Meteorology applied to Urban Air Pollution Problem".

NERI hosts the web site of this action, which ended in 2004. Final reports are available.
