Department of Freshwater Ecology

The department works with freshwater ecology and analyses of factors impacting the ecological quality of streams, lakes and river valleys. We develop models and methods for nature restoration. We undertake research into the effects of climate changes, agriculture and waste water, and our results form the basis for the department’s consultancy activities for administrative use. We develop methods for nature restoration and tools for management purposes. The department is responsible for the Topic Centre on Freshwater Ecology and the Topic Centre on Agricultural Monitoring Catchments under the national monitoring programme.
