In connection with the PhD-project ”Effects of nutrients and hydromorphological interactions across the stream-floodplain ecotone on plant communities” we investigate the effects of nutrients and increased hydrodynamic interactions on plant communities in floodplains. The project started on 1 February 2008 and is expected to be finished by February 2011.
On the basis of existing data from the national monitoring programme (NOVANA) on streams and river valleys as well as data gathered from field experiments we aim to determine the physical, chemical and biological factors supporting healthy and sustainable plant communities, with particular focus on fens.

Kastbjerg flood plain with typical rich fen indicator species:
Dactylorhiza majalis, Trollius europaeus and Geum Rivale.

Experimental plots in Kastbjerg flood plain. Effects of
flooding and flood mediated sedimentation on riparian
plant communities are investigated.
