About NERI

Nature restoration

Our research within nature restoration is focused on analyses of the regulatory mechanisms in ecosystems. The results will form the basis for the development of methods to restore streams, lakes and river valleys. Long-term impacts of restorative interventions are estimated. We develop indicators for ecological quality so that Denmark can fulfil its obligations relative to the Water Framework Directive and the Habitats Directive.

New organisation

As per 1 July 2011 the National Environmental Research Institute (NERI) has been closed down. The research activities are now gathered at the Department of Bioscience and the Department of Environmental Science. In the future, consultancy services to authorities etc. will be provided by the DCE - Danish Centre for Environment and Energy on the basis of input from these two and other Aarhus University departments.
