From Copenhagen Airport to Roskilde Station
There are frequent trains from Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) to Copenhagen Central Station (København H), where you can change to a train for Roskilde. Some trains go all the way from Copenhagen Airport to Roskilde. The train ride all the way to Roskilde takes less than an hour most of the day.
Note if you change train at Copenhagen Central Station: Several trains go to Roskilde . For example trains towards "Nykøbing F.", "Kalundborg" and "Holbæk".
A ticket costs approximately 100 DKK (in 2011). The ticket is valid for 2 hours, and you can take the bus from Roskilde to Risø on the same ticket. You can also use a discount card ("klippekort"). If you use a yellow discount card (with 10 "stamps"), it should be stamped three times in order to be valid from Copenhagen Airport to Risø.
Bus no. 600S leaves from Roskilde Station (in front of the main building) three times an hour (until 18.00 and then once an hour), and bus no. 216 leaves from Roskilde every hour (sometimes more often). A ticket from Roskilde to Risø costs 24 DKK (in 2011), but it is cheaper to use a "stamp" on a blue or yellow discount card. The bus ride takes 15-20 min.

Car
If arriving by car, follow highway 21 from Copenhagen towards Roskilde. Leave the highway at exit 10 (Roskilde Øst) and follow signs to route 6 towards North. The trip from Copenhagen by car takes about 45 min.

If you have a reservation at the guest house, then ask for the key at the gate at Risø.
As per 1 July 2011 the National Environmental Research Institute (NERI) has been closed down. The research activities are now gathered at the Department of Bioscience and the Department of Environmental Science. In the future, consultancy services to authorities etc. will be provided by the DCE - Danish Centre for Environment and Energy on the basis of input from these two and other Aarhus University departments.
