2010:

  • Senior scientist Peter Bondo Christensen was awarded the Aarhus University Anniversary Foundation’s Research Communication Prize of Honour.

  • Senior scientist Alf Josefson and seven coauthors were presented with the international journal Marine Pollution Bulletin's "Highly cited author award". Full story (in Danish)
  • Senior advisor Karsten Dahl, senior scientists Jørgen Hansen and Jørgen Bendtsen, professor Jacob Carstensen, scientist Steffen Lundsteen og Johan Söderkvist and technician and diver Jan Damgaard Nielsen received National Energy Globe Award for Danmark for the execution of the EU financed project BALANCE led by Denmark for the protection and sustainable administration of the. Full story
  • Senior scientist Helle Weber Ravn was awarded the French Order of Academic Palms. The order was presented by Ambassador Bérengère Quincy at the French Embassy in Copenhagen. Full story
  • The scientitst in the section for Lake Ecology as a team and together with professor Erik Jeppesen as the leader were awarded the highest achievement in limnology, the Naumann-Tiedemann medal by the International Society of Limnology. Full story(in Danish).

2009:

  • PhD student Marie Frederiksen was awarded the 'DGUV/BGFA award for young exposure scientist' by the International Society of Exposure Science (ISES). Full story in DMUNyt (in Danish)
  • Project researcher Lars-Henrik Heckmann has been presented with the ’SETAC Europe Best Publication Award’ . Further details
  • Professor Torkel Gissel Nielsen and researcher Eva Friis Møller were awarded WWF/Novozyme’s research grant 2009 for a project on Calanus (marine copepods) as a key group of organisms in marine ecosystems.Further details

2008:

  • Senior scientist, Paul Henning Krogh was highlighted as a "Rising Star" within the field of Environnment & Ecology in a citation analysis. His current record includes 48 papers cited a total of 410 times between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 2007.Further details
  • NERI’s researchers received the EU's environment award for work in the area of grasshopper control. A research team comprising of Jørgen Aagaard Axelsen, Jesper Bak, Peter Borgen Sørensen and Idrissa Maiga (in Niger) were among this year’s Danish recipients of the EU environment award. The prize, which the Danish Society of Engineers (IDA) awarded to NERI’s researchers on behalf of the EU, was in the category, ‘International Cooperation’. Further details (in Danish)

2007:

  • Professor Erik Jeppesen and Senior Advisor Erik Lyck, as members of the IPCC, were among the many awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for their work in generating attention surrounding global climate change.

  • Professor Tony Fox was awarded the Luc Hoffmann Medal for excellence in wetland research for his contributions to the study of waterfowl ecology and physiology. The prize is awarded every triennium by Wetlands International. Further details

  • Senior scientist Finn Palmgren was awarded the Aerosologist Award 2007 by the Nordic Society for Aerosol Research, NOSA.Further details

  • Director of Research Department Bo Riemann was awarded the Aase og Ejnar Danielsens Fond Environment Prize 2007 due to his outstanding long time research on marine foodwebs and his establishing of the Swedish-Danish Baltic Nest Institute this autumn. Further details

  • Senior researchers, Jacob Carstensen and Peter Henriksen received an award in 2007 from the EU’s Joint Research Centre (IES) for the best scientific article of the year in 2006. The article presented a new indicator important in relation to implementation of the EU’s Water Framework Directive. Further details (in Danish)
