Primary production is measured as carbon fixation over 2 hours in incubations in artificial light at in situ temperature.
Dark uptake is subtracted from the uptake in light and the relationship between carbon uptake and light is established from 12 measurements.
Area production is calculated from data for surface light, light attenuation in the water column, chlorophyll concentration in the samples and the distribution of chlorophyll with depth as measured from a fluorescence profile. The result is given in mg C/m2/day.
Secchi depth is measured with a standard white disc. Information about the use of water telescope and if Secchi depth exceed the depth of the station is also provided.
Information on sampling locations within the Danish national marine monitoring program (NOVA 2003) and download of data can be accessed.
