Rivers - state and trend

This site presents results from monitoring carried out under the Danish Aquatic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (NOVA). We present the environmental state in 2002 and the trends during the period 1989-2002 as well as an assessment of the environmental pressures. The main issues are biological quality, nutrients and eutrophication, and dangerous substances.

The national compilation of the monitoring results is done by NERI based on data collected by the Danish counties, who are responsible for sampling and analysis.

New organisation

As per 1 July 2011 the National Environmental Research Institute (NERI) has been closed down. The research activities are now gathered at the Department of Bioscience and the Department of Environmental Science. In the future, consultancy services to authorities etc. will be provided by the DCE - Danish Centre for Environment and Energy on the basis of input from these two and other Aarhus University departments.
