With the agreement on the new Renewable Energy Directive (2009/28/EC), a new driver for land use changes has been introduced. Dedicated (perennial) energy crops as well as food and fibre crops, cultivated for energy purposes are already changing the landscape and impacts (positive or negative) is to be expected on environment, nature and landscape. The workshop will present and discuss studies within this area, and discuss future research challenges.
