The first workshop on "Harmonisation within Atmospheric Dispersion Modelling for Regulatory Purposes" was held in May 1992 in Roskilde, Denmark.
Its title was "Objectives for Next Generation of Practical Short-Range Atmospheric Dispersion Models".

The focus of the workshop was on the management of model development and the definition of model objectives. It was the intention to point out actions to be taken in order to improve the development and use of atmospheric dispersion models.
The local host was the Danish Centre for Atmospheric Research (DCAR), which is an umbrella organisation for several Danish institutions involved in atmospheric research. The workshop was sponsored by ERCOFTAC (European Research Community On Flow Turbulence And Combustion), EURASAP (European Association for the Science of Air Pollution) and the Commission of the European Communities (Nuclear Safety Research, Radiation Protection Programme, DG XII.D.3).
The proceedings from the workshop were published as Olesen, H.R., and Mikkelsen, T. (editors), 1992, Proceedings of the workshop on "Objectives for Next Generation of Practical Short-Range Atmospheric Dispersion Models", Risø, Denmark.
The proceedings are now out of print. However, some items from the proceedings are available via this WWW server.
Several subsequent workshops have been held. For more information, go back to the Home Page of the "Initiative on Harmonisation within Atmospheric Dispersion Modelling for Regulatory Purposes"
